FUN SCIENCE

Fun Science gallery is a fully interactive hall and houses extraordinarily interesting interactive exhibits that makes science learning fun filled experience. Most of the exhibits housed in the fun Science Gallery, spread over an area of 300 sq.mtrs, provide the visitors an exhilarating experience to explore various aspects of science. The exhibits provide an ambience for visitors to explore the innate nature of creativity inbuilt in every one of us.

MARINE SCIENCE

Marine life is a vast resource, providing food, medicine, and raw materials, in addition to helping to  support  and all over the world. At a fundamental level, marine life helps to determine the very nature of our planet.

Marine organisms contribute significantly to the , and are involved in the regulation of the Earth's  are in part shaped and protected by marine life, and some marine organisms even help create new land. Many species are economically important to humans.

The knowledge regarding the relationship between life in the sea and important cycles is increasing with new discoveries being made day by day. Keeping this in view and the very existence of the seas around Puducherry, this gallery has been designed. The 300 sq. mtrs gallery is divided in five sections Marine Ecology, Marine Diversity, Marine Resources, Threats to Marine Resources, Marine Tourism.

Did you know: Below 2000 feet the ocean is completely dark and what exists there?; that Sharks are more ancient than dinosaurs!; There are more species of life in the water than on land; Whales have two blow holes but dolphins have one; Fresh water fish cannot stay in sea water; Corals are live and they also eat!; Sea animals and birds excrete salt to get rid of extra salt that they eat or drink!..... and many more such questions wait to be explored and answered in the gallery. One can check the ocean hot spots; watch an immersive movie on oceans and the life beneath; experience the biodiversity in the waters of Puducherry etc

SCIENCE PARK

Beyond the four walls of the science centre, a lush green science park sprawling over an 0.5 acre area has been created. 14 exhibits on, levers, pulleys sun-dial and swings that act as pendulums, etc. find a place in the park. Here parabolic reflectors send whispers to a distant destination, hallow pipes can be made to generate music. The centre also pays homage to eight eminent Indian scientists whose busts have been displayed in the park.

DIGITAL PLANETARIUM

A 50 seated Digital Planetarium added up another feather in the centre. Shows on Galaxy, Universe Stars constellation etc., with projection apex on the wall in 25 minutes duration in Tamil / English gives an exhilarating and great experience to the visitors and students.

INNOVATION HUB

The ability of man to think is the motive behind the human progress.  The desire to discover, ability to create, his hunger for more knowledge and despite failures the persistence of efforts became the wheels for development.  ‘Necessity is the mother of Invention’ is a well  known phrase which is applicable today to the full extent because our daily life is looking for advancement and efficiency so that technology becomes the core of the developing world in all aspects.  Since the early days expectedly or unexpectedly discoveries and inventions occurred.  Some people spent their life time for finding/learning such discoveries and invention and furthered the horizon of knowledge.  In this competitive world Innovation takes a major place and has become the hub for property and continues growth of the humanity as whole. With the dwindling resources, today the word Innovation has taken a different meaning.  It goes beyond creation of new products and services but also includes application and usage of technologies and materials to develop low cost, locally appropriate solutions to improve the overall well being.

The decade of 2010-2020 has been declared as the “Decade of Innovation” by the Hon’ble President of India.  It now becomes the responsibility of all the citizens of the country to prepare India to move towards a knowledge based economy rather than resource based.  This needs an urgent thrust to promote and nurture the innovative potential and develop innovative centric mindset in our young generation.
