Activities of Science & Technology
- Grant-in-aid to the Puducherry Council for Science & Technology (PCS&T) to promote and disseminate Science and Technology in the U.T. of Puducherry.
- Operation and maintenance of Dr. Abdul Kalam Science Center and Planetarium at Puducherry since 2015, with Marine Biology and Fun Science Galleries having more than 100 exhibits, science park and a state-of-art planetarium to enthrall and educate students.
- Establishment of Space Exposition Center, Innovation Hub and Digital Planetarium at Thirunallar Temple Town, Karaikal.
- Conducting Mobile Science Exhibition Bus shows in schools.
- Celebration of important days of scientific significance in the U.T. of Puducherry.
- Providing financial assistance for conducting Science Exhibitions
- Conducting Summer and Winter Science Camps for the students.
- Organizing periodical webinars on S&T topics
- Grant- in - aid to the research projects on identified S&T thrust areas
- Partial financial assistance for conduct of International/National conferences / Seminars / workshops on S&T topics
- Travel Grant to Research Scholars to attend international workshops / conference for upgradation of knowledge.
- Release of financial assistance for setting up / upgradation of science labs in Govt. schools and colleges.
- Funding short term research projects on thrust areas of “S&T Innovation / Applications” to the Government Education / Research Institutions in the U.T. of Puducherry.
- Establishment of Innovation Hub in the first floor of Dr. Abdul Kalam Science Center and Planetarium to provide hands on training to students on innovation concepts - construction nearing completion.
- Presentation of Best Science Student Awards.
- Organizing the Science Tours for the benefit of students.
- Organizing science popularization/education programmes for the benefit of students.
- Organizing Sky Watching and other programs during important celestial events to develop scientific temperament among students.
- Financial assistance to schools under National Green Corps “Eco-club”: EEAT Program for conducting environmental awareness events – 576 schools and 75 colleges are covered under the program.
