About GSDP

In line with with the Hon'ble Prime Minister's Skill India Mission, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has launched the Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) to promote skill development specifically within the environment and forest sectors. By utilizing the expertise and expansive network of the Environmental Information Awareness Capacity Building (EIACP) Hubs and Resource Partners (RPs), this initiative aims to equip unemployed youth and skill enthusiasts aged 18 and above with specialized training and certification to form a dedicated green workforce.

The GSDP aims to cultivate a workforce of green skilled professionals who possess the technical knowledge and dedication to sustainable development. This initiative will contribute significantly to achieving India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), National Biodiversity Targets (NBTs), and the Waste Management Rules (2016).

The GSDP offers various certificate courses and training programs designed to provide participants with practical skills that lead to sustainable livelihood opportunities within the environmental sector. All GSDP certificate courses are aligned with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), as established by the National Skill Development Agency and the National Council of Vocational Education and Training under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

The GSDP training program not only enhances individual skills but also promotes sustainable livelihood opportunities, entrepreneurial skills, and the empowerment of local communities. By equipping participants with practical, marketable skills, the program fosters self-reliance, supports community-based enterprises, and encourages environmentally responsible income generation. This approach helps build resilient communities that can sustainably manage and benefit from local resources, creating lasting economic and social impact.
