Empowering Communities for Climate Resilience: IEC Initiatives by PCCC
The Puducherry Climate Change Cell (PCCC) actively drives climate resilience across the Union Territory through a robust framework of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities. To build localized grassroots resilience, the Cell organizes wide-reaching Awareness Programmes designed to educate the general public, students, and vulnerable coastal communities on core ecological issues like water conservation, waste segregation, and green cover preservation. Moving from general awareness to targeted action, specialized Training Programmes are conducted to equip government line departments, local farmers, and stakeholders with practical tools for climate-resilient agriculture and carbon-neutral resource management. These are deeply complemented by interactive Workshops & Seminars that serve as collaborative platforms where scientific experts, policymakers, and environmentalists demystify complex climate data and map out localized action plans for pollution abatement. Furthermore, adapting to modern digital outreach, PCCC frequently hosts regional Webinars that seamlessly connect global sustainability experts with local citizens, ensuring that vital strategic knowledge on reducing greenhouse gas emissions remains highly accessible to all.
